NINJA FANS NEVER STOP! vol.3

This note was especially touching to find and reread when I pulled these out recently since it's from my own daughter after visiting her classroom several years ago. I did a haiku writing exercise with the class. As you can see, Alexandria added this to her thank you note. For those who cannot read it in the image, I'll write it here for you.

I am a dark night

I am sneaky and so cool

wach me fight and sneak

This haiku exercise is one of my favorites that I do in classrooms. It's great for poetry units. Instead of focusing on developing end rhymes, we focus with haiku on counting out syllables using an "I DO - WE DO - YOU DO" strategy.
